Gosh, I cant believe how times flies by... Alex is now running everywhere, starting to say a ton of words, even putting a couple of words together, one of my favourite is when I say to her "Is that alright?' and she answers 'alright'. She loves Dora and even sings along with the backpack song!

She is asking for certain foods and will go to the cupboard and fridge and point or say what she wants. She is becoming more and more independent every day and sometimes very stubborn (obviously, she gets this from Jody and not me!).

She got sick for the first time, with a virus, fever and blisters in her mouth, it took her about a week to get over it but is now back to 100%.

We had a trip to the zoo in Cincy, which was a ton of fun.

I have actaully started golfing quite a bit (which I am loving) and tonight Alex came on the course with us!

We have set up a little pool outside on the deck for her, along with a kid table, patio table for us and a nice 3 seater swing, which brings back many summer memories of when I was in England at my grandparents house! They had one and I used to spend hours on it. So Alex loves being outside in the pool and also blowing 'BUBBLES"!

I am so sorry that I have not given an update for so long. No excuses!! Alex is now walking, well actually running is the better word! She started walking just prior to her 1st birthday!! She has now also started talking, her first word was Dadda!! She can now say Mamma, Dav (for David), Dais (for Daisy, the cat), bye bye, ooshe (shoes), ilk (milk), no (nose) and ite (light), ice (water, I think-this is a new word in the past day), apprently today she said 'my diap' (diaper) and her favourite word is BALL, every thing that is round is ball!! She knows how to kiss and she is trying to blow kisses. She can point to her head, nose, mouth and ears. She goes up to bed every night and with a little help takers off her clothes and with no help puts them in the laundry hamper, graps her towel and heads to the bath!! I am trying to teach her early to clean! She loves reading and her favourite book is one that has pigs, horses, cows and chickens. She knows them all and she loves to kiss them all. It is amazing to me how much she understands and what she can actually do!

For the past couple of days Alex has been trying to walk, on Monday night she took about 8 steps. Tonight I think I can officially say that she is walking. She walked across the kitchen quite a few times tonight!!

We went to Prestonsburg for Thanksgiving and spent some time with Jody's family! This is Laryn, (Jody's sister), Jody, Dean (Jody's Dad) and of course, Alex. Sorry about the quality of the pic! Alex suddenly decided to smile every time we took her picture! Quite funny, especially with her teeth coming in!! Jody's aunt is sitting down! Dinner at grammies house. The little ice cream cone that she is holding used to be Jody's bottle!!

Huge Update

I am so sorry that I have not updated the site recently. Everything is going great, Alex is getting bigger every day. At her 6 month check up she was 13 lbs, so she is still pretty skinny! She is now scooting around the house very quickly, she can crawl but she knows she can get where she wants to go faster by scooting! She is sitting up but also does not like to just sit there, as she is constantly on the go. Last week she started to pull herself up to a standing position, I think she is growing up too fast. She does not have any teeth yet but she is loving food, everything excpet green beans.

OK, so first picture is her 6 month picture:

For July 4th week we went up to Indianapolis to meet up with an old friend of mine, Ximena and her husband Brian. We had a great week and it was so nice to catch up with old friends! So, the next two pictures were taken July 4th.

Sunday July 6th will probably go down in tennis history as one of the greatest matches of all times, in the Wallen household it will be remembered as the first 'Breakfast at Wimbledon' for Alex! Unfortunately she could not enjoy the strawberries and cream (as she cannot eat strawberries yet), she will get to do that next year. Alex did decide that she was going to wear her tennis dress and play with her little tennis racquet

One of the highlights of my year is being a part of the womens pro tournament that is held each year down at UK. this year Jody and Alex got to be down there with me almost every day and Alex had a ton of pictures taken of her, these are just a few:

First time in the pool

Today we went to Lisa and Steves house. They have a beautiful pool, so we lathered Alex up with sunscreen, put on her bathing suit and took her into the pool. As you will see by the pictures it took her a little while to get used to the water, but in the end she enjoyed it. She kept looking down in the water at her feet!

Today Alex and I spent the day down at UK watching some of the kids that I work with play in the Kentucky State High School Tournament. Jan came down with Max and so we were able to get some more pictures of the two of them! Alex was wanting to 'get to' Max, I wonder what we are in for in the years to come!!

Mothers Day

Wow, my first Mothers Day!! What a feeling, the best in the world! Jody and I cooked dinenr for my parents and used our china and dining room table for the first time! It was nice to have them over as we have not really had any room before.

Baptism

On April 13th Alex was baptised at Walnut Hill Church the same church that Jody and I got married in. Her godparents are Stephen and Lisa Conn. It was a really nice day and afterwards we had a few of our friends over to the house for a little get together.

16 week check up

Last Friday we went to the doctors for Alex's 16 week check up. She now weighs 11lbs 10 ozs. 24.5 inches long and perfectly happy!! The doctor said we could start her on rice cereal, which we did and it was very funny. She is still trying to push out the food with her tongue but she is getting better and better each day trying to master this new skill!!!

Max and Alex

Drew, Jan and Max came over last weekend, oh Boomer came also!! Jan called me and asked if they could bring Boomer with them so he and our dog, Edie could play in the backyard as it was such a pretty day outside. I thought it would be a great idea; thought is the operative word there!! As soon as they came to the door Edie starting growling and going crazy, but no big deal, I thought she would calm down!! We let them outside and Eddie proceded to bite Boomer in the butt. We ended up putting Eddie in the garage for the time they were at out house, to keep the peace in dog land!! I was hoping that the kids would get along a little better than the dogs had!

Alex was very interested in Max, actually, she could not take her eyes off him. They were very cute together and it was nice to spend some time with the Deener family.

This morning was Alex's second day at church. The first time she went was on Christmas eve.

I had always said that I would never put any of the 'hair bands' on my baby but I thought I would just see what she looked like it and I thought she looked beautiful, so I kept it on her!!

2 Month Check Up and Pics

On Monday we went to the doctors for her 8 week check up. She is now 9lbs, 11.5 ozs and 23.25 inches long!! She had all her shots and she was so good, she cried a little but hardly anything. The doctor said that looks perfect, we think she is also!! As you can see by the 2nd picture, Alex already has more hair than her daddy!! She is now smiling alot and she is getting very strong, she can hold her head up for quite a while by herself. She has started growing out of some of her clothes and I think soon I am going have to go to the next size diapers!!

First Date!!

Last week Alex and I went to see Jan and Max. Max is one week younger than Alex and Jan was the manager at the tennis club where I work, so we went thru our pregnancies together, so it was a ton of fun. Now it is fun checking in on each other and asking each other a million questions!!!

Alex has been sleeping about 5-7 hours every night, she is starting to smile a little more and basically she is such a good baby, very relaxed and mellow!! (Like her Mom!). I have one more week left before I go back to work full time, I think I am feeling OK with leaving her as I am very comfortable with the people that will be looking after her. It is also nice that I am going to be home with her most mornings.

One Month Birthday, January 11th

She is getting so much bigger (eating like a horse). She even had her first smile, it looked more like a little smirk! She is sleeping about 4-6 hours at night, without waking up so that is nice for Joy and I.

Today, January 16th Alex is going to have her first date!! Dad is not happy!! We are going to Shellbyville to see Jan and her new baby, Max. Max was born one week after Alex, same hospital. We have not seen him in person yet so we are excited! I will take a lot of pictures of them both, so keep checking back!!

Sleeping with Daddy

Yesterday Alex did not want to nap during the day so I took her for a long walk (as it was 70 degrees outside) and then we went over to Nana and Poppy's house and sat on the deck for a while. Needless to say when we got home Alex took a long nap and then when Jody got home they both took a nap together and I could not resist the photo op!! Last night Alex only woke up 2 times, so it was a good night!!

Wow, 2007 was an incredible year, a lot happened with us!!

Jody and I got married, bought a new house and had a beautiful baby girl!! I think 2008 will be a little slower for us, hopefully we will just be able settle down as a newly married couple and settle down as a mommy and daddy!

Today Alex found she really like the aquaruim that is in her crib! It kept her occupied for quite a while!

Today we also put her on her playmat, which is also really liked. The mat may have been a little over stimulation for her but she was looking at everything with a ton of interest!

First Day without Daddy

So, Jody had to go back to work so it left Alex and myself all alone for the first time. I think I did OK! It was very quiet and by the time 5:30 came we were both very excited for Jody to get home.

Other than feeding, changing and watching her sleep we did actually go for a nice walk! It was awesome to get some fresh air and Alex seemed to like it also!!

Christmas Day

We had a wonderful Christmas Day. Jodys mother was staying with us and Alex stayed awake the whole time we opened presents and then in the afternoon we all went over to my parents house and had a huge dinner!! This has been the most amazing Christmas ever, having Alex is blessing and so wonderful.

Other college outfits!!

Ok, so obviously Alex is going to be a huge UK fan (thats University of Kentucky, not United Kingdom!!) but everyone keeps giving her different college outfits. So, the first one is University of Minnesota, she got this is a Christmas gift from Phillip, who is going there next year!

The second one is a terrible picture, just due to the fact that it is Louisville!! Some of our dearest friends, Steve and Lisa gave this to her so I had to take some pictures but Jody told me that I could NEVER take her outside the house in this outfit!! He actually told me to never let anyone see this picture, but oh well!!

The third picture is obviously the best as she has her UK outfit on!!

We were able to leave the hospital on Sunday December 16th, we were all happy to be going home and being able to sleep in our own bed and not constantly getting woken up by the nurses!!
